High-speed Internet connection

A stable, high-speed internet connection is the most critical requirement for successful online lessons. A smooth video stream without freezing or lagging ensures that we can have a productive, frustration-free lesson where I can see and hear every detail of your playing in real-time. I recommend a minimum speed of 30 Mbps for both downloads and uploads.

Laptop or Tablet

You will need a device with a screen large enough to see me and any music we're sharing clearly. A laptop is ideal, but a large tablet (like an iPad) can also work well. Positioning the device on a separate stand or table next to the piano is usually the most effective setup.

Webcam

While your built-in laptop or tablet camera can work, the best angle for a piano lesson shows a clear side-view of your hands and the keys. An external USB webcam is highly recommended as it gives you the flexibility to place it wherever we can get this ideal view, leading to much more effective feedback on your posture and technique.

Microphone

Clear audio is essential for me to hear the nuances of your playing. While your device's built-in microphone is a starting point, they often don't capture the full range of the piano. An external USB microphone will dramatically improve the sound quality, allowing me to give you much more detailed feedback on your tone and dynamics.

High-quality piano

A good quality instrument is crucial for your progress, whether it's digital or acoustic. If you have an acoustic piano, it should be well-maintained and tuned at least once a year. For a digital piano, the non-negotiables are 88 full-size, fully weighted, and touch-sensitive keys to ensure you build proper finger strength and control. Quiet space for lessons

Please choose a space for your lesson where you can focus without interruptions from family, pets, or background noise like a television. A quiet and dedicated practice space allows both of us to concentrate fully and ensures you get the maximum value from our time together.
